Coronavirus Daily Updates: Consignment of Testing Kits From China May Arrive on Wednesday

The lockdown in India to contain the spread of coronavirus looks likely to be extended by two more weeks till April-end after a consensus emerged among states on Saturday for continuing the curbs amid the tally of confirmed infections crossing 9,000.

India now has 9,352 confirmed cases of COVID-19. According to the health ministry, the number of active confirmed cases in the country stands at 8,048 as of Monday evening. The ministry also reported that there have been 324 deaths due to the viral infection, while 980 people have been cured/discharged or migrated.

Across the world, there have now been 1,850,807 confirmed cases around the world as of Sunday morning. According to the Johns Hopkins University tracker, the global death toll due to COVID-19 stands at 114,251.

The US has the highest number of confirmed cases at 557,571. The confirmed infections have crossed 100,000 in Spain, Italy, France and Germany. Infections have now been reported in 185 countries, regions or territories.

The US has also reported the highest number of deaths so far, 21,108. This is followed by Italy (19,899), Spain (17,209), France (14,393) and the UK (10,612).
