More than 8 lakh cusec water was released from Hathinikund barrage in Haryana on Sunday. Its rapid aftereffect was seen in Delhi where the water level of the Yamuna reached above the danger mark.

As the water level rose in the low-lying areas of Delhi, the population on the river bank had to leave their homes, go to safer places and stay in tents set up by the government. The Wire visited these makeshift settlements to learn how people were doing there.
